Abstract: -
Films of conductors oxides of nominal composition Ir0.3Ti(0.7-x)PtxO2 (0≤x≤0.7) of 2µm thickness have been prepared from thermal decomposition (400°C) of chloride precursors on metallic Ti support. Their morphology depends strongly on the preparation procedure and has a definitive influence on the behavior of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The higher the electrode area, the higher the number of active sites available to the OER. A pre-analysis of these films by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) allows to evaluate the performance of the several ceramic oxide mixtures with respect to the OER. The films containing PtOx, analyzed before and after OER present drastical morphological differences, indicating that this reaction provokes a collapse of the oxide microstructure.
